Narnia confessions

This year I seemed to have rediscovered reading. This was triggered off by allowing myself to read fiction books for enjoyment as opposed to reading non-fiction books purely for learning. I've found the trick is to find books to read that I have trouble putting down and that are written in an easy to read style. Lately I've been reading The Chronicles of Narnia. I'm very embarrassed to say they I haven't actually read them, although I think I might have read The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe when I was younger but i'm not sure. I definitely grew up on a diet of the T.V. series of the Chronicles of Narnia (although i'm pretty sure it didn't include The Horse and His Boy or The Last Battle). I don't think the poor quality of special effects takes away from the story - probably because i watched it in the late 80's and early 90's when those special effects were the best they could do. I did ask for a complete set of the books for one birthday but I didn't read them. Now I've read The Magician's Nephew, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and The Horse and His Boy. I'm stopping myself from starting on the next one just so I can get other things done.

My reading ideal is that that I can find books that are easy to read, for me that means written in a story format, that I can also learn from at the same time. I think biographies would be a good category for me. I have had trouble in the last few years with reading. Maybe it's because work has drained my time away and also because of my previous restrictions on what book i thought were a worthwhile use of my time. I think i will still reevaluate weather or not pure fiction is just escapism and isn't good for me or my life. At the moment i think the joy the books about narnia have provided was worth it. And then there is the timeless book of the very words from the Creator himself....that i hope i never stop reading: The Bible. And I know I will never be spiritually malnourished if it were the only book i ever read.

Let me know if you have any reading recommendations for me...or if you've read anything good lately
