My first green house

Today I made a mini-greenhouse for raising seedlings. I'm very pleased with myself and the final results. It cost me nothing because i used materials already laying around because i'm terrible at throwing anything away. It's made from wire mesh, plastic (from sheep poo bags), wire to anchor it into the ground. I wish i had a digital camera so i could post a picture of it straight away. I will take a picture with a regular camera and get it scanned, after the film is developed. Then you too will be able to share my joy. My first priority is raising tomato seedlings. I've just sown, into pots and a tray, various varieties of tomato including: Roma, Rouge de Marmande, Tigeralla (yes, it's supposed to have stripes), Black Russian, Yellow Pear and Yellow cherry cocktail.

I'm also conducting a "Seed Raising Mix Experiment", as i call it, to test was type of seed raising mix is the best for tomatoes. I made up various combinations of peat,sand, sifted compost, sifted potting mix and worm castings. It's very scientific. I'm using icecream containers as the pots.

I should have mentioned to start with that i had a day off today. Yay! I'm currently working 4days/wk for a few weeks until my job in Oatlands is readvertised and then the number of days per week is a little uncertain. I'm enjoying 4days/wk at the moment (today was my 2nd thursday off).
